By Magan Hurrelbrink - Owner & Director

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the intersection of art and the unknown. I grew up dreaming of the stars — first wanting to be a lawyer (because that’s what people said “success” looked like), and then wanting to work in space. The universe fascinated me — not just for its science, but for its silence, its beauty, its infinite potential. I was captivated by how something so vast could make us feel so small, yet so full of wonder.

And then, somewhere along the way, I realised what I really loved was creating.

So I followed the expected path — studying Marketing and Management at university, and later completing my Masters in Marketing. It was a world of frameworks and forecasts, brand maps and buyer journeys. But I wanted to see more. I was chasing something bigger — that spark that makes ideas feel alive.

Over the last decade, I’ve worked in nearly every corner of marketing — from gyms to finance, from corporate to government, and eventually, within agencies. Each environment offered something new: knowledge, structure, discipline. But none of them offered freedom.

In every role, I was just another cog in the machine, helping to build someone else’s vision. My creativity lived between the lines — restrained, waiting for permission. And every time I was finally let loose, allowed to follow an instinct that felt wild or strange, the results spoke for themselves. Campaigns soared. Audiences responded. Ideas worked. But the recognition belonged to the agency, not me.

And that was the turning point.

I realised I was spending my life building other people’s dreams — feeding their machines — while mine sat quietly in the corner, waiting. So, I stopped waiting.

Over the years, I’d built something precious without even noticing — trust. Clients who believed in my ideas. Colleagues who shared the same creative hunger. A community that saw the care I poured into everything I touched. That trust became the foundation for what came next.

It took a step back — and maybe a trip to Japan — to see what I truly wanted. I didn’t want another agency. I didn’t want to replicate the same formulas that left creativity gasping for air. I wanted something that breathed. Something that could move fluidly between design, strategy, storytelling, and emotion. Something that could take the unspoken and make it unforgettable.

That something became Orpheus Creative.

The name came from myth — from the story of Orpheus, the artist who could tame the gods with song. I loved the symbolism in that: the idea that creativity, when pure and fearless, could move even the impossible. Orpheus Creative was never meant to be just a marketing agency — it was meant to be a creative body. A living space for ideas.

We exist to bring stories to life — not through templates or trends, but through imagination, rhythm, and soul. Every project begins with a question: What if? And from there, we create without fear.

For me, Orpheus is both personal and universal. It’s a reminder that creativity is not about ego or ownership — it’s about connection. It’s about seeing something that doesn’t yet exist and believing it can. It’s about crafting work that moves people, because it was made from something real.

Every brand we work with carries its own mythology — a set of values, ambitions, and emotions that make it human. Our job is to uncover that truth and turn it into something people can see, feel, and remember.

Looking back, Orpheus Creative was born from hunger — but it grew from faith. Faith in the unknown, in the process, in the magic that happens when creativity isn’t restrained by expectation.

This isn’t just what I do now. It’s what I’m meant to do.

Because creativity has always been my language — from the stars I once dreamed of studying to the stories I now help bring to life.

Orpheus Creative is the bridge between the two — the logic and the lyric, the science and the soul. A place for the ideas that move us, the stories that shape us, and the art that tames the gods.

"Two iced-matcha latte's deep, here I was reflecting on life after a month in Japan, and enjoying my final days in Korea before I went back to the chaos. I think it was here that I realised – I didn't want to go back to how things were... I wanted more."
